Barrier provides natural gas conversions to customers who have gas available. Your local provider (Con Edison or NYSEG) must run it to house free of charge if it is on your street (some restrictions may apply). We think converting is one of the best investments a homeowner can make, especially if you have an older heating system. Not only is a new gas system much more efficient but natural gas is a cheaper resource then oil (not to mention it is a PRODUCT OF THE UNITED STATES). We feel switching to gas can save you up to 50% of your annual heating bill. Con Edison, NYSEG and New York State (NYSERDA) offer people who switch different programs that can offset the some costs of doing your conversion.

Petroleum Bulk Storage (PBS) Compliance for registered facilities

Petroleum Bulk Storage (PBS) compliance can be quit complex, it requires in depth knowledge of the rules and regulations set forth by New York State Departement of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and Westchester County Department of Health (WCDOH), as well as, the Environment Protection Agency (EPA).

If you have more than 1100 gallons of petroleum storage on your property or dispense gasoline your tanks must be registered with the Westchester County Department of Health. Along with this registration is a list of regulations you must comply with. These regulations can be confusing and hard to follow. We can help you understand and follow these regulations to make your facility compliant and safe for the environment.
Regulations can include color-coded fills, tank identification, inventory control, leak detection and various other things. We find that management companies and apartment buildings are not compliant with some regulations. If you operate or are on the board of a building with a large fuel tank, take the time to make sure you are in compliance with ALL of the environmental laws. Above Ground 275 or 330 Gallon Oil Tank Installations Under Decks

Above Ground Oil Tanks can be installed in your basement, garage or outside, depending on the tank regulations in your area. Different towns, cities and villages in Westchester and Putnam County have different codes about the placement of oil tanks. Experienced professionals are required to install heating oil tanks in most municipalities, a process that includes licenses, permits and insurances.

Basement Oil Tanks- must meet certain criteria, as per building and fire codes, including distances from any fuel burning appliance (furnace, water heater, dryer..etc.)
Outside Oil Tanks- we install heating oil tanks on a 4 inch steel reinforced cement slabs, an oil tank can weigh between 2800-3200 pounds when full. They need to be placed on a sturdy foundation.
Twin Oil Tanks (or sistered tanks)- joining two tanks together allows for greater oil storage. By connecting the tanks properly you can be sure they will remain equalized while in use and during delivery.
Garage Oil Tanks- are installed with protection from vehicles, usually including 4inch bollards filled with cement
